Alleppey Fish Curry is a Kerala Style spicy Fish Curry which is slightly tangy due to the use of raw mangoes or Tamarind. Here is how to make it.
Ingredients:
- 5 tbsp Coconut Oil
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- 3-4 Green Chilli (Slit into half)
- 10-12 Curry Leaves
- 1 and ½ cup Onion (Thinly Sliced)
- 1 tsp Ginger (Chopped)
- 1 tsp Garlic (Chopped)
- 1 cup Tomato (Chopped)
- 1 Raw mango (Cut into wedges)
- Salt to taste
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 tsp Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
- 500 g Fish (Sliced)
- 1 cup Water
- 200 ml Coconut Milk
Instructions:
- Heat coconut oil in a pan.
- When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds.
- Fry till the seeds starts to crackle.
- Add green chilies and curry leaves and fry for a few seconds.
- Add onion, ginger and garlic and fry till onion turns translucent.
- Add tomatoes and cook for a minute. Add raw mango and ½ cup water and cover and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder and cook for a minute.
- Add fish, a cup of water and coconut milk and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Add more water if the curry is too thick.
- Serve hot with rice or appam.
